The 6 week curriculum was delivered in weekly sessions for an hour each time. The classes were supported by teaching and support staff who would usually work with the children. Adults were encouraged to join in with the question and answer sessions and the Mindful practices.
“Paws b is a classroom introduction to mindfulness. At the most basic level, Paws b aims simply to be an awareness raising exercise that gives 7-11 year-olds a taste of mindfulness, so that they know about it, and can thus return to it later in life, learning more about it when this is useful to them. So the most fundamental aims are:
- For all children to know about mindfulness
- For most to enjoy it
- For many to use it now and again
- And some to practise daily
- For as many as possible to remember it
Paws b is about helping children to experience and ‘be with’ whatever is happening to them in any moment, even if that is agitation, anger, stress, sadness, the urge to fidget, etc. At the heart of mindfulness is learning to ‘befriend the difficult’, as well as appreciate the pleasant.” (Extract from How to teach paws.b booklet MISP).
